Southern (#4 seed) will travel to and face (#1 seed) Rumson Fair Haven on Saturday, May 12, 2012 at 11 am.

The 5^th seeded Rams defeated by the 12^th seeded Raiders by a score of 6 to 4. Southern travels #4 Red Bank Catholic on Thursday, 5/10/12 at 4:30 pm in the quarterfinal round. The game will be played at Count Basie Field in Red Bank, NJ.

The Rams (#14 seed) defeated (#3 seed) Manchester 5 to 4 in 11 innings. Southern will advance in the Ocean County Tournament on Tuesday, 5/8/12 at Brick Memorial (#6 seed) at 4:15 pm.

The registration form is posted on the NJSIAA website:  Coaches/Coaching Clinics!  The cost is $75/attendee and limited to 60 attendees! 

The Rams were sparked by Sr. Dana Ohlson who set a new school & meet record in the Long Jump with a jump of 18-10 and she was named the meet MVP.

Price is $15.00 which includes a happy hour light buffet and Silent Auction plus a peformance from Southern's own John Plumley and Facedown. Thank You!

Six schools participated in this year's tournament; TR North, Cherry Hill West, North Brunswick, Fair Lawn, Central & Southern. Southern won all five matches in pool play and won in tournament play by defeating Cherry Hill West in the semi-final 2 to 0 and Fair Lawn in the final 2 to 0. Junior Luke King from Southern Regional was named Tournament MVP.

The team defeated TR North in the first round, Millville in the semi-finals and TR East by a score of 10 to 6 in the final.

The team has won the tournament for the 2nd year in a row. The team defeated Bayonne in the finals. Great way to start the 2012 season on a high note and Congratulations again to Coach Maxwell and the rest of the squad. Attached is a team photo and tournament bracket.

Most county schools from the Shore Conference were represented. The student athletes shared ideas and listened to talks regarding sportsmanship from Mr. Keith Lister (Manchester Athletic Director), Mr. Bill Bruno (Brick School District Athletic Director) and Mr. Paul Barnoski (Toms River North Athletic coordinator). The student athletes also heard a talk on rehabilitation of sports injuries from representatives from Kessler Sports Institute Rehabilitation Center.

All monies raised were donated to the SOCH Hospital Cardiac Rehab Unit. Numerous administrators, coaches, faculty/staff members and the 2012 baseball team participated in the event. A total of $750.00 was raised to help battle heart disease. Thank you to all who participated and donated towards the event. Go Rams!

Molinaro defeated Dylan Ness from Minnesota in the national final match 4 to 1. Penn State also won the NCAA Division I national championship team title for the 2nd year in a row. Congratulations!

All of the new inductees to the SRHS Athletic Hall of Fame were honored at a ceremony at LA's restaraunt in Manahawkin, NJ on Saturday, March 10, 2012.

The National Football Foundation honors scholar athletes that participate in high school football in the South Jersey area. The South Jersey area includes high schools located in the following counties; Salem, Cumberland, Cape May, Atlantic and Southern Ocean County. The banquet was held on Sunday, February 26, 2012 at The Carriage House in Galloway, NJ.

They placed 4^th out of 13 large varsity squads that were trying to earn a bid for the only national championship presented on ESPN and endorsed by the NFHS.  They will be representing Southern Regional and New Jersey at Nationals on February 11^th and 12^th at Disneyworld.  Good luck girls and great job!

Congratulations to senior football player Alec Morris on being nominated as the High School MVP for football (Week 2) by the Press of Atlantic City. Alec Morris had 4 catches for 97 yards including a touchdown catch. Alec also had an interception in the end zone that stopped a Colts Neck drive in the 3rd quarter. Congratulations!

Boys and Girls Soccer Teams Senior Nights next week in the stadium (Field #1). Chelsea Vaughan won the New Balance Nationals emerging Elite Pole Vault with a new Meet record and School record  12’-03 ¼”.  Her jump makes her 9^th all-time in NJ history.  The meet is being held at North Carolina A&T University in Greensboro.

Congratulations to the Southern Regional Volleyball team on defeating St. Joe Metuchen yesterday 2 games to 1 in the NJSIAA State Semi-final. Southern will play Fair Lawn in the State Championship game on Thursday, June 9th  at 4 pm at South Brunswick High School.

Congratulations to senior athletes Maggie Kaszuba and Brian Swenson on receiving the 2011 Ocean County Athletic Directors Sportsmanship Award. Each shore conference Ocean County school has one male and one female senior athlete to represent their school.

Maggie Kaszuba was a three sport athlete participating in volleyball, basketball and track & field.

Brian Swenson was a three sport athlete participating in soccer, ice hockey and lacrosse.

Congratulations to the Girls Track and Field team at Southern for going undefeated and winning the "A" South Championship. The girl's team also won the Lion Invitational meet at Middletown North H.S. on Saturday, April 30, 2011.

Congratulations to the Southern Regional Girl's Lacrosse Freshmen team on winning the 1st annual Frosh Lacrosse Tournament at Southern. The team is having a successful season and defeated TR South, TR North and Freehold twp. in the tournament.

Congratulations to Senior Steph Sheehan on placing in the Individual Top 10 at the Ocean County Tournament for Girl's Golf. She placed 3rd and is invited to play in the "Shore Cup" Tournament which is for the top players in both Ocean and Monmnouth counties of the Shore Conference.

Congratulations to Kyle Casaletto (12th grade) and Zach Wilhelm (9th Grade) on placing 2nd and 8th respectively in the NJSIAA state wrestling tournament for Southern this past weekend in Atlantic City.

Jillian Smith and Danielle Tauro have helped vault the University of Michigan to the 13th nationally ranked team in the country for Women's Track & Field. Jillian Smith won the 800 meter run in the Big Ten Indoor Track & Field Championships last weekend. Both Danielle and Jill were members of U of M's Distance Medley Championship Relay Team also at the Big 10 indoor track championships. The realy team finished with a time of 11:17.34. Congratulations!

Kyle will advance to Atlantic City this weekend with teammates Bubba Lanno 130 lbs. (12th grade) and Zach Wilhelm 112 lbs. (9th Grade) who took 3rd place respectively in their weigh class at the Region 6 tournament this past weekend.

Congratulations to the Southern Regional Boy’s Bowling Team on capturing the 2010 – 2011 Shore Conference “B” South Division Championship. The team finished with a 36 – 8 – 1 record.

The Southern Regional Wrestling team won the Shore Conference Tournament on Saturday, January 29, 2011 by defeating Jackson Memorial 27 to 23. Congratulations!

The Southern Regional Girls Winter Track team won the Shore Conference Championship on Friday, January 28, 2011. It is the teams’ fourth team title this season. Congratulations!
