Attached is information regarding the NJSIAA Phase I “Return to High School Sports” information for the 2020-2021 school year.

Phase I takes place from Monday, July 13, 2020 till Sunday, July 26, 2020. The Phase I is the start of the summer recess where our coaches can have in person contact with our student athletes. The NJSIAA has developed the following guidelines for Phase I

Our Strength and Conditioning program will begin on Monday, July 13, 2020 in the stadium. It is open as of now to Fall Athletes only. Athletes will sign up for their time slot. They will be a member of a class of 10 athletes during the workout. The time they choose is critical because it cannot be changed during Phase I. They must work out in the same class, same time slot and days throughout Phase I. Students will be able to sign up in the “Green Box” on the Southern Website when made available the week of June 29th.  The Strength and Conditioning program will take place in stadium. There will be no equipment used. All athletes are to bring their own water bottles, there will be no shared water bottles or equipment used during Phase I and social distancing will be practiced and maintained. Athletes are encouraged  to wear a mask as they are arriving to the stadium and when they are departing the stadium after the workout. Athletes may not have to wear a mask as they are participating in the workout. Coaches and athletes will practice hand washing before, during and after workouts.

 

All Athletes must complete the COVID-19 Questionnaire, 7 days prior to Strength and Conditioning taking place. If Questionnaire is not complete with parent/guardian signature athletes will not be able to participate. Questionnaire is due by Monday, July 6, 2020 to the athletic office. The COVID-19 Questionnaire will be available in the “Green Box” online or you can complete the paper copy which was made available to athletes (in their athletic class google classrooms) and coaches on Friday, June 19th.

 

Athletes will have to complete daily questionnaires before arriving on campus through the Southern Website App. As athletes arrive they will have their temperature scanned by a district employee. If a temperature of an athlete is above 100.4 that constitutes as a fever and the athlete may be excused from the workout.

 

Coaches running the workouts are Chuck Donohue Sr., Dan Roy and Dylan Larson. Other district employees and coaches in the athletic program will be there to help maintain the classes of 10 and social distancing. Example of the Phase I Strength & Conditioning schedule will be the following:

 

Monday and Wednesday; 7/13, 7/15, 7/20 and 7/22

7am to 8:30am: Football & Field Hockey

8:30am to 10am: Football & Field Hockey

10am to 11:30am: Freshmen Football

6pm to 7:30pm:

 

Tuesday and Thursday: 7/14, 7/16, 7/21 and 7/23

7am to 8:30am Boys Soccer

8:30am to 10am Gymnastics, Cheerleading, Girls Soccer

10am to 11:30am:
